Course Overview
Preparation and entry for the examination of the D.E.L.F.

Required level: depending on the diploma you are aiming to take (attached Quick Test has to be done imperatively)
Intensive Course of 30 lessons per week
(9.00 – 10.40 / 11.00 – 12.20 + 3 afternoons:13.15 – 15.45)
Duration : 4 weeks - 10 participants max.

At the moment, the D.E.LF. is the only diploma of French as a foreign language which is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Education. It has been accepted by more than 150 countries and is widely recognised by administrations and firms.

Since September 1st 2005, the DELF offers a new system which agrees with the European Norm of the European Council and which is adjusted to any public.
This new version offers 4 diplomas which can be taken independently from eachother and which square with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Each diploma is testing the following competences : oral comprehension and expression, written comprehension and expression.
The DELF diplomas can be taken and passed independently of each other. All diplomas can be taken in the same country or in different ones and this at any moment and without time limit. A student has the possibility to take several diplomas at the very examination session.

Tuition is organised according to the exam requirements.
This means an approach to the main aspects of French language : grammar, vocabulary, standard of written and oral expression, knowledge of French culture and civilisation.
This course is not only an examination preparation but simply a very complete language training giving you competence in French language and knowledge of French life.
In practice, in the morning you are following the « Continuous French Course » and your afternoon lessons are devoted to examination preparation and techniques.

Each diploma certifies the level you have reached:
DELF A1 certifies your first knowledge, Level A1 « Breakthrough » of the European Framework
DELF A2 certifies an elementary knowledge, Level A2 « Waystage » of the European Framework
DELF B1 certifies an intermediate knowledge, Level B1 « Threshold » of the European Framework
DELF B2 certifies an advanced knowledge, Level B2 « Vantage » of the European Framework

Course duration :

The DELF Preparation Course lasts 4 weeks. But this is only valid if you wish to take only one diploma and if « its » level is the one right next to your current language level . (Use our Quick Test to test yourself!)
Example : If your current level is A2 and you wish to take the DELF B1 diploma, you will need a 4 week Preparation Course at Alpha.b. If you prefer to go the safer way, of course you are free to take also the DELF A2 diploma.
But if you wish to take the DELF B2 diploma – which means 2 levels higher than your current level of the language – you will need to take an 8 week Preparation Course. Same possibility in this case : if you wish to and if the examination dates allow doing so, you can take the DELF B1 diploma in addition to the DELF B2.

NOTES :
You will have to do at least 1 hour per day after lessons for preparation or exercises.
Examinations generally take place on the last course day.
Mr Richez Pascal, Director of Alpha.b, and Ms Brenda Malalel, Director of Studies, are members of the D.E.L.F. jury.
